"...Through the end of May, shooting incidents in Chicago were up 53 percent over the same period in 2015, which already had seen a significant increase over 2014. Compared with the first five months of 2014, shooting incidents in 2016 were up 86 percent. Shootings in May citywide averaged nearly 13 a day, a worrisome portent for summer."
Both Chicago and Detroit are cesspools, and have been for more than a decade.
Don't totally disagree, but a bit too broad a brush. Detroit proper has been a cesspool since the early 70's. But burbs in the area like Gross Point, Bloomfield Hills and Plymouth are very nice. Chicago proper has some very nice areas as well, especially near/along the lake from the central district north. The common denominator is being in areas where the majority of people make their living in the private sector.

ISAFNRC!
Plenty of ethnicity in those areas. Pollacks, wops, micks, krauts, olive pickers, chinks, red dots, spics, and blicks hail from those neighborhoods, they just wear suits (and long coats during colder days), neighborhood homogeneity at it's finest.
Liberal run cities are cesspools. Socialism sucks and only the "elite" are equal, the rest are in a 24hr state of chaos.
Comprehensive list of conservative run American cities:
Guess which political party presides over the most violent?
You guessed it: Democrats.
Neighborhood Scout explains their methodology behind their research:
“Our research reveals the 100 most dangerous cities in America with 25,000 or more people, based on the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Violent crimes include murder, rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. Data used for this research are 1) the number of violent crimes reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and 2) the population of each city.”
16 out of the 20 cities with the highest violent crime rates have Democratic mayors. Two are Republican, and the other two are Independents. It is notable that one of the Republican controlled cities, Atlantic City, had previously been managed by wave after wave of Democratic mayors.
Neighborhood Scout asserts that high violent crime rates are probably less about the size of the populations than it is the economic issues in the communities, which would make a strong case for Democratic policies being to blame for the high crime rates. Big government policies impoverishing communities would naturally lead to greater crime, as citizens resort to illegal activity when they are disallowed the freedom to trade in the marketplace. Higher minimum wage laws put people out of work, driving up unemployment, and giving incentives to people to break the law.
