Mychal shopped Klay to every team in the Pac-12 looking for a scholarship. Mychal felt the Pac-12 is where Klay needed to be for max exposure. WSU was the only school to offer. When Klay got Late offers from Michigan and Notre Dame, he made another run at Romar (all of this according to a softy KJr. Interview)
Romar said, he had other commits who fit what UW was trying to do, better. Mychal said it was crap and came armed with video analysis of the UW recruits vs. Klay. Romar said, there was still no room.
Imagine having Klay on the roster with Brockman and Poindexter. Klay played in 09,10,11
You're forgetting one key detail. Romar was still coach. We still would have lost to WV in the 16. Probably still lose to Purdue when he's a frosh. Possibly beat Carolina in the rd of 32 when he's a JR, but something tells me Romar would have found a way to lose anyway. I mean it's not like we didn't have double digit leads for most of the game in the first place.

Romar was proven wrong.
It's kind of hard to believe a guy 6'7" that can shoot like Klay can (with a dad that played in the NBA) wasn't more highly sought after.
I'm going to assume Suggs and Elston Turner took Klay's spot. Both were rated higher than Klay. It wasn't just Romar who whiffed.
2010 WSU won both
2011 UW won both
