Winning the 2016 Hyundai Tournament of Champions by 8 shots in a record 30 under doesn't count? He beat Day by 15 shots, Fowler by 10 shots, Dustin Johnson by 15 shots. SMH

His 1st win of the year. And no Day, Fowler, Bubba, Rory in the field. Good win, no choke...progress. But nothing close to making a statement.
My bad. Didn't look back that far. He was definitely dominant 5 1/2 months ago. As is, this weekend's win was his 2nd win in the past 8 months. Certainly top 5 in the world right now, but this weekend was far from a statement against a weak field. If he can keep it in the fairway off the tee, he'll dominate. His putting is incredible.
Colonial is a probably in the top 10-12 tournaments for non majors every year ... prestigious course with a tournament with tradition normally equals large field ... fields in general are strange this year with the compacted schedule for the Olympics + Ryder Cup year
He has been putting himself in contention to win a lot with probably a B- game for his standards most of the year ... most guys on tour (including guys named as not being in the field to downplay Spieth's win) would kill for Spieth's B- season

The Colonial was the #25 tournament on the PGA tour last year:
My guess is if you go look at historical schedules it moves up ... the shift of the Players into May has hurt the DFW tournaments that get sandwiched between the Players and Jack's tournament ...
Most players play Jack's then take a week off heading into the US Open ... those that do play week before almost always are skipping DFW trip

The Colonial is as relevant to golf as the Wisconsin Badgers are to college football.
