It's clear that they valued status quo and internal knowledge/relationships ... which you could argue is important given what Pete has the football program is poised to achieve in the upcoming years ...
We don't know how much she THINKS ... we do know that she CARES ...
Compared to some of the past ADs that this University has had in the last 20 years, the caring part will at least make her work to get things better and right ... that's better than can be said for some (*cough Todd Turner *cough)
They haven't been serious about finding the most qualified candidates for primary positions there in a long time, The "search" that led to El Prezbo was no more extensive. The UW's priorities are guided by checking boxes, not by finding the most qualified candidates.

85-89 the past 6 years is hardly a success. Ill give you this year's team is in second place, but only a game up over third place Arizona.

My brother played UW in both 2009 and 2010 and they were a disaster. Knudson was brutal and ran the program into the ground.
No question it took Meggs some time to turn the program around ... but he definitely has the program on the right track as can be seen with the 2014 and now 2016 teams. Once he got the program stabilized, he proved that his low water mark is roughly .500 in conference play ... and with the new baseball facilities in place, probably reasonable to expect decent teams going forward.
I'm skeptical until the football team makes a Rose Bowl or top ten and Romar is held accountable for his failings. As for as financials, it's a public university. You merely need to stay solvent. Obviously Crazy Larry, animal crackers, photos of gay students and hearts didn't help sell tickets that well. Maybe try winning? I know you metrosexual pencil pushers in the AD read this board. Take note. Quit alienating your base.

Instead of recruiting, Snake liked to kick back and have a cold one

"probably reasonable to expect decent teams going forward"
Fuck expectations of being great or good. We are Washington, where decent is the expectation.
Historically the baseball program has not had a legacy of success ... my expectations are probably to make the field of 64 3-4 out of every 5 years and at minimum a Super Regional 1-2 times over that time period. Getting to Omaha would be a first for the program.
I'm not saying that the program can't get there ... but I'm not going to upwardly adjust expectations until they are proven realistic. We're facing an uphill battle in baseball compared to the Arizona and California schools in general.
Why do we have a baseball team? They suck. No black kids play baseball anymore (a la Milloy or Dillon) so we don't need it to appeal to decent football recruits (Shaq never played for us IIRC).
Softball cheats and wins. We should immediately cut all beisbol schollies and make those fags serve their lesbian overlords for their scholly money.

But please tell me more what great shape the baseball program is in under her watch.
I'm far from bullish on the hire ...

We could have hired the Jenner thing
2016: 16-11
2015: 14-16
2014: 21-9
2013: 15-15
2012: 13-17
2011: 6-21

Fuck UW baseball. Long live UW softball.
