The UW athletic department reported an operating deficit of $863,000 for the 2014-15 fiscal year, and the sense around campus is that number isn’t expected to improve for 2015-16. The numbers suggest UW is in better shape than WSU, but the budget issues are certainly worth monitoring as UW’s new athletic director comes on board (a hire expected to be made in the coming weeks).
