But seriously. There a lot of good young golfers out there. Never been a better time to be the director of marketing for the PGA. I don't even play golf (mini golf legend though) and I'm excited to see if there is a legend (or two) out there, but no one has proved it yet. They are young. 2036 will be special. -

Tiger made people who weren't fans tune in. Phil was the choke artist who was a "good family man." He was the guy to root for if you hated winners. Doog types love him. No current golfer will be a big as those two. -

Spieth is 22 and in just over 2 seasons he already has 2 majors. If he was Tiger good, he'd already have 5. But he's not, and that's why Tiger is the standard.
He'll pass Phil's major total in the next couple of years, well before he's 30.

Spieth just drowned his career on 12.
Jason Day is the guy that could bring in casual fans. He's 50 yards longer than Jordan and when he is on can putt just as well. Spieth is more consistent with the putter

Tiger was the Beatles. He came along and changed the the way golf was played. But like the Beatles, he filled a void.
When Tiger was Tiger, he only had to beat Vijay, a sloppy, choking Phil, and a few over the hill guys like Freddy. He was one of the few guys who lived over 300 off the tee. Those guys rolled over at the sight of him. I said no racist crap!
The tour now are all guys who grew up with Tiger. They all hit 3 woods 300 plus now. Tiger was great, one of a kind, when he played. But way more week to week competition now.
