HUSKY BASKETBALL not historically FS
like all the Doogs say it is. A few nuggets of truth that I have been pondering for a while as the Romar supporters wave their "wait till next year" white flags again.
1. Historically speaking the UW has a winning or even record against 7-11 Pac 12 teams.
2. All time, 7-11 of our coaches have a winning record at the UW.
3. UW has almost 600 more wins than losses all time.
Not the wasteland of basketball that is being spouted about every year in the "what if we make a bad hire" arguments that come up any time the "Fire Romar" voices start to grumble. We seem to be an historically upper level west coast job.
I also have one argument that no one can deny about CR.
He has made six NCAA tournaments as UW coach. Great fucking job. Three of them with a future NBA all star in Roy and three with a future NBA all star in Thomas. With rosters stocked with NBA roll players like Hawes, Brockman, Pondexter, Holiday, Wilcox, Ross, Wroten, and now Murray and Chriss CR has mustered ZERO tourneys. Z-E-R-O! Some of that NBA talent has made the tournament (Brockman with Roy and Thomas, Pondexter with Thomas, Ross with Thomas) but they needed the help of a transcendent college player to get past the poor coaching and stratagem of one Lorenzo Romar.
Obviously he can recruit, as our talent level for the last fifteen years has been better than its ever been. If you look a little closer its extremely clear that without at least one All American level talent that he will always squander the teams that have more than enough ability to make a run to the tournament.
With CR we will continue to be a mid level program that will be a perpetually young feeder program for the NBA. We will continue to attract a dearth of undisciplined players to UW so that they never have to be coached or learn to play real basketball and they can stay AAU special forever. As most players don't stick around 3-4 years like Thomas and Roy, this last year of frustrating/exciting/bad basketball is what we should expect from all the teams that will be rolling the ball out at UW for the foreseeable future.
We are FUCKED.
That is all.

No argument for the vast majority of his years at uw. Sadly, his results with these players is below Sean Miller, which is akin to having an OE 40 over a nice aged cab which drinks like a merlot.
