It's either Trump or a contested convention. Cruz and Kasich can't get to the 50% of delegates.

Having a contested convention with 10,000 jacked up Trump supporters in attendance should go over about as well as the infamous Ten Cent Beer Night. Which, coincidentally, was also in Cleveland.

The question is going to be whether the GOP delegates want to win the general or if they want to be 'right'.2001400ex said:https://www.yahoo.com/politics/trump-still-not-doing-well-enough-guarantee-nomination-143140132--election.html

Trump/Kasich ticket is unbeatable. Donald takes his turn at the top, hands it off to Kasich 2020 or 2024. Double down on 'merica.

This assumes that Kasich would actually want to be apart of Trump's ticket. Not everyone is as spineless as Chris Christie.PurpleThrobber said:

I'm sure they can work that out. Kasich can smooth the ruffled feathers Trump creates. In essence, this ticket hits the Democrats on two fronts. It's kind of like "good cop/bad cop".GreenRiverGatorz said:

However, the ego is so deeply embedded in the GOP establishment, that they'd rather see Trump crash and burn than to be wrong. They are going to go all the way with it. The establishment already made their bed and played their cards.
If Trump wins, it's not a good look and doesn't say much about your political future when the President has a target on your back. Which many establishment members now have. If Trump loses, they can say they were right and maybe keep their cushy job. These cowards could care less about right and wrong. The smart ones kept their mouths shut, and can jump on board the wagon when it arrives. The outspoken ones that caved to left wing pressure, went all in on a pair of fives too early, and are now trying to change the rules of the game. -
The problem with your first paragraph is that almost no one would say, "hey, I absolutely despise the guy running for president, but the VP is ok, so I'll vote for him."greenblood said:

Kasich is a loser.
Trump is a winner. Zero chance Trump throws the VP lifeline to save Kasich.
Kasich promising full amnesty within 100 days of him taking office was a career killer for him. He done. -
