Grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory
So after watching the recap on espn it amazes me anyone can defend romar's tenure continuing. The season is on the line, UW is up SIX with 1:48 left. We? were up 6 with under 2 minutes and then the dreaded timeout happens. Where grown men win games and romar falls on his face. How many times have we seen this play out?
Out of the timeout a blown full court press should have resulted in a layup but fortune was on UW side for a second and eubanks whiffed. They come down and have no half court offense and end up with a fade away three from the corner instead of going to the basket hard to try to create a foul. Smart move. Next possession is another offensive rebound for OSU and a layup. Then the dreaded timeout happens again. Instead of drawing up anything, UW goes with the AA dribble drive and a careless turnover from your senior leader. OSU comes down and coughs up a three only to get another possession on yet another lack of defensive rebound. The 3 hit in the corner was well defended, but i refer back to the lack of ability to close out and secure a rebound when it matters as to why OSU even has another possession.
Crisp gets the ball and goes to the line to make 1/2. And this is where it is the best. Romar calls time out and tells his guys to apparently foul, up 3 with 7 seconds left. I am totally for fouling when you're up three and there is a small amount of time left(let's say under 4 or maybe 5). Crisp came out of the time out trying to foul right away which makes no utter sense at all. If you foul and leave 6 seconds on the clock you could be up 1 with plenty of time on the clock for them to make a shot. OSU isn't a great shooting team, make them make a bucket to send it to OT.
Cut to AA missing it when it matters(unlike him I will say).
And here we go again, Officials timeout. Romar should be telling his guys, we're up 2, there is no way a player should get a straight run to the other end of the court. At best they should get a half court heave. You TURN THE BALL HANDLER instead of picking him up at half and riding his ass all the way up the court. Whether it was romar not saying it, or just not coaching it they let a player run all the way down the court on his own. You could tell it was a coaching error when they let a ball handler go on his own to catch the ball on the run and turn and murray didn't pick him up till half court. Not one player went with him. Every doog will call the walk the problem, however if you know jack SHIT about basketball you DO NOT allow a ball handler a running start to get down the floor and get a shot up with so little time. You go with each player and make him burn a second or two just being contested getting the ball and turning. That shot(at best) should have gone up at half court.
God damn it embarrassing to watch how poorly we're? outcoached in fundamentals and basic strategy.
TL:DR version - Winners fucking win, losers find a way to fail. FYFMFE

BUT absolutely the best and most awesome public condemnation of romar and UW basketball. I love it.
We're up two (even if he misses) and you do NOT need the fucking rebound.
In fact, if you're not going to pull Chriss ... and the rest of the team ... off of the lane during the free throws and call the team near the bench to set your defense (remember neither team had any time outs to set up after the free throw ... make or miss) then you absolutely are screaming at Chriss NOT TO FOUL ... which means, don't go after the fucking rebound.
Instead, Chriss avoids an over the back call but succeeds in tipping the ball out of bounds so that OSU gets the chance to set up the eventual game winner, aided by the fucking delay when the officials review the bonehead play by Chriss.
You could argue that it was better for Andrews to miss the second free throw because by the time OSU gets the rebound and throws an outlet, the clock has probably already burned a second or two and at best they get a half court heave.
Nope, Chriss went for the fucking rebound.
(Wasn't it just two games ago when the exact opposite happened when Thybulle got fouled on a rebound and got a chance to tie it from the line because our opponent decided they needed an unnecessary rebound on a foul shot at the end of the game ... Thybulle missed ... but fuck, does no one on that staff fucking think about or remember this stuff?)
2) Kent Love knows what real coaching looks like ... it's also likely well over 81% of the reason he is at UW
