Wait, they're making Blood Meridian into a movie???

    BRB, JO

    Allegedly

I personally don't think it will ever happen, for obvious reasons. If it does, it will likely be watered down B.S.

But if anyone could do it, it would be Inarritu
No Country for Old Men was solid.

Pretty sure Blood Meridian won the OFFICIAL HHBv1.0 book club book of the century award...so they better not fuck it up.
No Country for Old Men was awesome. I actually liked the movie more than the book.

That said, it's really different from Blood Meridian.

Anton Chigurh and The Judge have a lot in common, though.

Shave Javier Bardem's head and have him be Judge Holden
They're different. I just don't think it would have to be watered down.

Leo just got raped by a bear, and he's gonna win an Oscar.

Django Unchained and 12 Years a Slave were violent and brutal. Oscar nominees.

Any of the fucked up stuff can still get in under the "it's ok because that was the olden days" clause.

Perhaps, I just dont think a movie would be able to portray it with an R rating.

its been a while since ive read it, but it was ridiculously fucked up.
But it's fucked up for real.

It really is, and the whole delving in to the darkest nature of lawless humanity is intriguing. It's a tired subject that has been done to death, but Blood Meridian stands apart in a lot of ways.

Was reading stuff online about how parts of how the Revenant was filmed would be great in a Blood Meridian movie adaption, which is why I brought it up.

James Franco directed a 30 minutes "test filming" of a Blood Meridian scene you can look up, which is pretty cringe-worth to be honest.
Exactly why we need a Lord of the Flies reboot starring Shia LeBouf.

The thing about Mad Max Fury Road is they took so many risks in how it was shot, paced, and conceptualized and knocked it out of the park on every single one.

Throbber is right to some extent, it has every excuse to be a high production B movie but it's executed so well it refuses to stoop to that level.

Something like a flame thrower metal guitar shredding warboy bouncing around on a bungie chord platform while people are getting murdered everywhere shouldn't hold up, but it does and it's fucking awesome.

This. Anyone who doesn't "get" MMFR is a giant rainbow cunt.

Just re-watched Gone Baby Gone. Great movie. No Country For Old Men - great movie. American Hustle -great movie.

Mad Max Fury Road - things go boom and people fall off trucks. Not great movie.

    Disagree
Any movie where Charlize Theron doesn't show her spectacular naked body can hardly be considered 'great'.
She shows her stump. Just as good. I'm into weird shit.

No Country was actually a bit disturbing the first time I saw it. The haircut alone was scary

I'm not gonna argue about art, but you couldn't be more fucking wrong with that gross oversimplification.

I guess subtext isn't your thing.

I'm with you on Mad Max, but American Hustle was just generic Oscar bait. Other than seeing Christian Bale transform into a fat used car salesman, that movie was a total yawner.
