I know I will come of really doogly, but despite the low TBS rating this guy received he actually looks like a pretty good player.
Im sure Im missing something.
Not making an equivalency in terms of current or projected talent, but the SITUATION is somewhat similar to Mariota - blew up his senior year. When Mariota committed to Oregon, he was a 2-star qb ranked in the hundreds on scout. I don't think he even started on varsity as a junior in high school. The only other school that showed interest in him was UW. Sark tried to swoop in late after striking out on a bunch of other QBs. Mariota actually insinuated that he liked UW better but had to keep his word to the Oregon staff.
I could actually see the same thing happening with DBG. Zona and ASU have had QB commits in this class forever, but it wouldn't surprise me if another school (Texas A&M?) tried to get in his pants in January.
That being said, it is pretty remarkable he's getting all these Arizona Player of the Year awards. That state is absolutely stacked with talent this year.
Different award, fucko: His senior season not only got him a scholarship to the University of Washington, but azcentral sports' Big Schools (Divisions I-III) Player of the Year honors. He also is the Division III Player of the Year.
