Voted up for overall poast, they're a clear step above us(?) though.PurpleJ said:People forget that the AP didn't start picking a national champ until 1936. Most of Michigan's titles were before that. Michigan has only won the AP poll twice since then, 1997 and 1948. They split a title in 1947. They aren't elite and never have been. B level like us, but never top tier A level. Losing record in the Rose Bowl, as well. They are closer to Princeton and Yale territory, but they've actually had recent success.

Let's compare.
UW: 1 natty in AP era (could claim more)
Michigan: 2 natty in AP era
Rose Bowels
UW: 7-6-1
Michigan: 8-12
In the big picture we are very even. Michigan gets an edge due to not having 0-12, and having more recent success, but in terms of big wins we are pretty even.

...Elite verdict? No.

Michigan is #1 in all-time wins and #2 in all-time winning percentage. Their claim to 11 national championships is stronger than UW's claim to 2. They've even won one during current players' lifetimes.
If Michigan's not elite, ain't nobody elite. -
I tried that line of reasoning already, the bored was displeased with my offering.TTJ said:Gladstone said:...Elite verdict? No.
