I can't get excited about any high school QB that throws 6 INT's in one game.
Tells me that he's got skills and is in the process of learning how to use them.
Also experience tells me that you learn the most from the mistakes that you make.
I seem to also remember that being a criticism at times of Josh Rosen while he was in HS as well ... he seemed to do ok as a true frosh this year at UCLA.
Thank fucking Real God, you gave me hope to live another day.
Chalk this one up as a favor from Peter sirmon. He wanted to commit to sark but when usc panicked and let sark go he was looking for a landing spot. Sitmon called coach Pete and handed him over. Just what I am hearing. Don't twist.
Stop the presses, a massively talented QB—with a huge arm, good mobility and great accuracy (not to mention exquisite hips)—pressed a bit in a big game as a sophomore and threw some INTs.
He must suck.
Take that shit to the 'IGAF about teen boys playing HS football and the outcome of HS games' bored.
Jesus fuck.
Who gives a goddamn shit what he did against fucking Woodinville?
I'm sure Peyton Manning never threw a bunch of INTs as a soph!!! Oh he did? Must fucking suck.
Do you possess even the slightest sense of humor or irony?

shut up
I know that Petersen once again killing it in recruiting combined with making coaching changes (like Pease) really go against your negative nancy narrative about Petersen bombing out here ...
But if you think that HS stats fucking matter, then you should probably sit the rest of this out.
Says the guy that jizzed over Browning's high school stats.
I've criticized Pete's recruiting one time with Eason. I never gave a shit about Pease. At all. He's a fucking WR coach.
I bash Pete for his record, his shitty offense, and for hiring Jonathon Smith.
You frame everything the doog way and act like an analyst on tv that doesn't want to hurt any feelings.

And you wonder why I get critical of some of the stuff you say ... far more than anybody else on this board.
All that Browning's HS stats confirmed was that the "soft" skills that you saw on tape translated onto the field: throwing a catchable pass, throwing to the right spot to allow for YAC, and being cerebral about being able to understand what the defense was trying to do were showing up on the field. I was far more excited about what I saw on Browning's film than I ever was about his HS stats. All the things that were visible on film in HS you saw glimpses of this year as a true freshman. There is something to be said for being able to translate ability to production on the field ... not every player is able to do that. Browning showed he was able to in high school. While there's certainly improvement that is required for him to take the next steps into upper level PAC QB, only a complete pessimist would expect that he won't continue to grow over the next 2-3 years.
You should be critical of Pease because it's the primary position grouping in this program that has consistently underperformed not only on the field, but also off the field in respect to recruiting.
Bashing Pete for Smith is on one hand deserved, but on the other hand, also a bit premature. You have no fucking clue whether or not Pete is going to relieve Smith of the OC duties after the bowl game. You don't even know whether or not Smith was Pete's first choice to be OC or was the Plan B guy. If you are getting bent out of shape about the difference between 6, 7, or 8 wins this year, perhaps Texas HS Football is more your speed. While it would be nice to have won a few more games this year, in the big picture, none of that matters going forward into next year. If anything, it magnifies the areas that need to get better and makes it easier to make the decisions that need to be made regarding Pease and Smith.
Regarding the whole offensive production thing, unfortunately for you, the stats really don't back up the shitty offense on the whole. Compare the offensive stats for 2015 (Browning's first year as a starter) versus 2011 (Keith Price's first year as a starter):
2011:
Passing: 65.8% completion percentage; 8.2 yards per attempt (Price was 66.9% and 8.5 yards per attempt) Rushing: 4.4 yards per carry (5.0 yards per carry eliminating Price's 56 carries for 10 yards)
2015:
Passing: 61.3% completion percentage; 7.8 yards per attempt (Browning was 62.9% and 8.0 yards per attempt) Rushing: 4.2 yards per carry (4.9 yard per carry eliminating Browning's 60 carries for 7 yards)
There have been many on this board that have sung the praises of how good of a QB Keith Price was ... Browning put up comparable numbers to him in his first year as a starter even though he was not only 2 years younger than Price, but also didn't have the fortune of working with receiving options as talented as Jermaine Kearse, Devin Aguilar, ASJ, or Kasen Williams ... all of whom would have been better receiving options than anybody on the 2015 team.
Finally, you are trying to bash for being a doog by not being critical? Where the fuck does that come from? You too busy hanging out with Charlie Sheen to think straight? I understand that I'm not a pessimistic fool that has said on the record that you don't think Pete will ever win the PAC North ... so by default thinking that he will win the North (potentially as early as next year) makes one clearly a doog. But I've clearly been on record saying that Smith is not good enough to take this program where it needs to be on the offensive side of the ball. I've also said that Pete needs to have a long look in the mirror about what he's planning on doing offensively going forward. I was calling Cyler Miles the worst UW starting QB I've ever seen ... then the pictures of him throwing with his eyes closed did nothing but confirm that fact. I've been on record as saying that Pease was a disaster at WR coaching due to both on field and recruiting performance. I've called out that WR recruiting must be better. But at the same time, I'm also going to call out the good things that I've seen in this program over the last 2 years. And if you are too blind to see that this program is CLEARLY in the best hands that it has been in at any point over the last 15 years, and that it's not even close, then you should probably head out to the 405 and try to play human Frogger.

He's a sophomore - so like 15 years old? It makes sense that he looks like a little kid. I didn't know they started recruiting kids that young. Crazy.
