Couple of interesting points: Big 10/Sec are in 60 million homes, Pac-12 only 12 million and this little nugget:

"And it doesn't help that Scott recently decided that the one place the Pac-12 can expand its reach is China, where the conference staged a basketball game between Washington and Texas in November.

Here's a secret: Among the many things 1.3 billion Chinese couldn't care less about is Pac-12 basketball. Or Pac-12 anything for that matter."

Larry Scott should be fired for a thousand things, but him turning up his nose when Oklahoma/Texas came calling in 2012 (OU/OSU were on board and that was forcing Texas to come along for the ride. 4th team was tbd but speculation was KU for basketball) should have been an automatic doa. But as author points out Pac-12 is more interested in being "conf. of (Olympic) champions instead of doing what's best for business.

So instead of being the first superconference of 16 teams that would have been legit against anyone else's, we will try to spin the additional foursome consisting of a combo of these teams: BYU/Fresno State/Boise State/Colorado State/San Diego as something special. And ESPN/Fox will show how special it is by talking about the conf's slate of games 40 minutes into their hour recaps

and the shittiest part in all of this:

Larry Scott is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than Tom Hansen ever was.

this article is so contradictory it's fucking absurd.

Texas played Larry Scott and the Pac12 not the other way around. The idea that those schools were begging the P12 to take them and the P12 said no is absolutely fucking retarded and an outright lie. I also like to say the college sports only cares about money but then say they were interested only in promoting Olympic sports and then say trying to go to China is a stupid idea because nobody cares.

You're an idiot and so is the writer.

    Disagree.

Probably a typo and should've said, "the Pac-12 Networks is only in 12 homes."

You're an idiot and so is the writer.

The first time Texas/OU/OSU/Colorado/Kansas and 1 other were coming here when it was the Pac-10 was done in principal Sunday night and was to be announced Tuesday or Wednesday. Gene Stallings (then the AD at Texas A&M) had a change of heart and didn't want to kill their rivalry with Texas. He made a plea to the other members of the then Big 12, said we need to stick together, we will find a replacement for Nebraska who was going to the Big 10, etc and pulled everyone back in the boat. Ironically a year later A&M said "fuck you" to Texas and the Big 12" and went to the SEC

I didn't say they were "begging" to come join the Pac-12. OU/OSU were ready to leave the Big 12 because they didn't have enough teams to have a conf. championship game at the time. If they had done it, Texas was going to be in a conf. that looked like the old SWWC back in the 70's when it would have been them and the 8 dwarfs. This coupled with Texas strong desire to continue their rivalry with OU, was enough to bring them out here. The Longhorn network would still have been a go.

And if you think once the 16 team superconferences start (led by SEC/Big 10) that OU/Texas are coming out here after Scott "politely" said no thanks we are happy with our current schools you are the idiot.

  • But how is he a bad president?

You just explained with all the details what I said. Scott was played by Texas who ended up with their own network and the rest of those schools bent over for them. You think Scott wanted Colorado and Utah instead of Oklahoma? By the way, I don't give a single shit about Larry Scott. It's the article that's bull shit and offensive to great writers like the mods around here.

In the same article they claim he's shortsighted for not building the superleague, which he was trying to put together, and then mock him
For trying to break in to China because "nobody cares" in China. Yeah, that's why you go to China.
