After reading this ESPN headline, how does Riley still have a job at Nebraska?

Nebraska's Mike Riley 'forever grateful' for 5-7 team's bowl opportunity

"the Cornhuskers, after all, are guaranteed of only their third losing season in the last 54 years."

He's making a great first impression.

So essentially because of Bo Pelini and his APR....Riley gets a bowl game.

    Seems fair

Though it's unfortunate Nebraska is backing into a bowl game, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better 5-7 team in college football. Throw out the loss to Purdue as an aberration, and Nebraska's other 5 losses were by a combined 20 points to teams with an overall 47-13 record

Tom Osbourne never had to coach against a ranked Northwestern.
