Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
We Really Have No Damn Choice. Petersen Has to Succeed.
The LAST, I repeat LAST thing I want to see is Scott Woodward
having anything to do with selecting a new coach. This is an AD
who has presided over 8 years of the most turgid, uninspired
football humanly possible. Petersen and half his staff have been hugely
disappointing, but expecting Woodward to go out and find someone
better is a non-starter to me. Rearranging deck chairs by firing assistants
is a horrible approach, but massively better than giving our AD any
responsibility. So start with Pease, move on to Smith and hope like hell
that Petersen sees his legacy slipping away and finds some inspired hires.
Or pray for the miracle that Emmert for some reason wants to work again
with Woodward. Then you can clean house.

of a real AD would be to go to the coach and expect a sacrificial
firing. This would be Pease. Does Woodward have the balls to
confront Petersen with that expectation? Highly doubtful. And there
in a nutshell is your problem with the whole program. As you go up
the food chain, the accountability rachets down rather than up. Exactly
the opposite of what you would expect in a well run business model.
Will fewer non-ingrish speaking international kids paying cash for condo's start going to WSU instead?
him particularly cares if he wins or not. Woodward would like to win
but has no balls to insist on it. Woodward's bosses are happy with
sustainability ribbons. There are no SERIOUS money donors to apply
pressure. The fans are not SEC serious and will just go watch the Seahawks
or Sounders. Hate Oregon all you want but their organizational structure
is built for success with increased accountability as you go up the ladder.
Any success we have in the future is going to have to come from Petersen's
internal drive to save a pretty damn good image that is rapidly going downhill.
I guess we are going to find out pretty quickly which is more important to him.
Loyalty to under performing assistants or preserving his reputation as an achiever.
And again for emphasis. I think the whole program structure is fucked up. But barring
change to that which ain't coming, success has to come from Petersen.
that would re-arrange the whole power structure of the program
from top down. Someone to tell the apathetic upper campus that
there will be no mega million donations for the new Forestry Building
unless the football team has the face of a winner. How the hell in a tech
area like Seattle are there no heavy hitters who are Husky fans? Did none
of these tech moguls grow up with Husky football?
The offensive staff (except for Bhonapa) should be put on a boat, driven out to shark invested waters, and sunk by a Japanese sub (yes, like the USS Indianapolis).
