I'll toss a name in to spark it; Beau Baldwin Look what his teams do. HC experience, so he can override @TheChart, and hangs points on higher level/caliber teams. Could make the turn to getting into big time FB. Feel free to dispute, as I'd like to hear the dig against him, other than the fact that he was a former QB.

Don't like pass first offenses. They are tougher to succeed

On the OC front, I mean: get someone who runs the football successfully. Who fits that profile? -
I guess some people still haven't learned from the post-Nick Holt era that the assistants don't matter, only the head coach does. Petersen can fire Smith sure, but the offense will still suck because Petersen sucks. Do you think Smith is the one dragging Lindquist out there? Petersen is telling Smith to put Lindquist in the game because he's a captain and wants to hand out participation trophies.

How about a new head coach?

Baldwin had a chance to go to Florida last year as the OC. Turned it down for family reasons. UW would be a much better fit.

Paul Wulff is tan, rested and ready coming off his South Florida stint as OC.

So far, the offense has been adequate against the bad and mediocre defenses and struggles against the better ones. That's how it's been at UW the past five or six years, right? It's easier to execute when the guys on the other side suck and/or aren't well coached.
He seems hell bent on installing his system no matter what so we're all captives. I hope it works. -

Mike Sanford
Has done an amazing job at ND this year given the injuries they've all over the offense. He does not have full control of the offense though, no OC truly does with Brian Kelly. Throw the house at him and give him complete control. Have Leach lock Petersen in a barn or shed and we're good. -

I think that there's a fine line between how much a HC gets involved in the detail with the coordinators. Clearly, they have to be involved to some degree. On the other hand, part of the deal is to hire people that not only can do the job, but share similar visions, etc. that you do as the HC.
Good coordinators and position coaches matter. But the truth of the matter is that they do come from the head coach. It's not a given that a head coach is going to make every hire a good one ... but it's critical to look at how often they get the hires wrong and what they do when they realize that they have a bad one.
