I thought he showed good perseverance. He wasn't able to finish though. It's hard to get that bike down and avoid the cops. He needs to clean some things up, put in another crisp week of practice and listen to the coaches.
The coach put a good plan together. The kid just didn't execute it. He needs to trust in the process and let it rip.
I loved it when he sat down all frustrated. How hard is it to put a ladder on the wall, climb it to the height needed to steal the bike and leave?
I'm not sure, but my guess is that those bikes are locked, and not just hung there, and that guy was too drunk to figure it out... but I don't really know.

Quite honestly I thought his performance was not indicative of his theft skills; he'll be the first to tell you that.
Update: 1) that thing that looks like a ladder, turns out, it isn't really a ladder, it is a wood bike rack that was on the ground there 2) the police did catch him
