Quick Thoughts on Browning

It was frustrating to watch but I did back a little away from the ledge last night and think he still has potential to be good. One thing that buoyed my confidence in him was his consistency down the stretch. Yes, that sounds fucking stupid considering he was consistently over and under throwing open receivers, but I did not see him making poor reads and routinely placing the ball where the defenders would be in position to make plays. The under thrown ball to the TE for a score was embarrassing but he did well not to underthrow it to the point where the DB was able to get to it first; just barely out of reach and that defender was playing it well.

He needs to get those throws dialed in. The accuracy must improve for him to make the passing game viable. I do think he can get those throws where they need to be with more repetitions and time with his receivers. People were always talking about how dangerous Lockner would be once he got his accuracy issues fixed but we all knew that was never going to happen - his reads were garbage and he never could place the ball in the same place two throws in a row. The potential was never there. For Browning, I think it is but he is going to need to work on that.

His pocket awareness is looking a bit better. Struggled early on and still looked like a high school kid thrown onto the field and doing exactly what his coach told him to do. That will undoubtedly improve with more starts under his belt.

All in all, his performance parallels Petermans to this point. Neither are who their prior accomplishments would suggest at face value but there are some encouraging signs which suggest that all is not lost with them both. LIFPO.
