New Seattle Times columnist a disappointing debut

I had hope that Jerry Brewer's replacement would be several notches better and worth reading. But I just read his piece on Kam Chancellor and it read like a high school essay loaded with filler.

Our friend Koopdog, aka The Sweatpants General, once said of Brewer, "His writing is soft and squishy." Matt Calkins isn't squishy, but as both Gertrude Stein and Race Bannon once said, "There's no there there."

At least so far.
