Very saavy (great TBS descriptor) d lineman. A lot his highlights look to be just him staying in his lane, reading the play and shedding a block to make the tackle. He has great hands and shows a few pass rush moves but mostly his bread in butter is playing fundamentally sound football.
Sadly, this is an NCAA recruiting violation if true.
Hahaha. Love how they felt the need to focus on how "they knew" the night before because he called them. Then had to throw in they knew before the coaches lol.
This kid is a hell of an athlete. His DE highlights look great. He's quick and looks to have a high motor. He's actually a decent QB and not just a typical "He's the best athlete on the team and we don't have a QB, so let's throw him back there" like a lot of high school QB's. I'm surprised he's only a 3 star. Great get.

I could be wrong but I think he was a 4* in the very first set of rankings more than a year ago.
In any case, guys like him, Love, and Rapp are the 3* guys you want to get and the ones you want to fill the middle third of the class. For too long the 3* guys we were getting were medicore guys with OSU/WSU offers.
I'm still scratching my head that Dublanko is ranked #41 and Williams is the #61 DE in the Scout rankings.
The ironic thing is that the Scout guys say they rank based on the recruit's college potential. I remember poasters (myself included) wondering how Banner could be the #12 tackle when he was getting abused at the high school level. And Biggins and the others basically said that we were right, but Banner was ranked on his potential.
It's pretty obvious Williams has a high ceiling. He's a natural athlete, has a high football IQ, and he has a good frame. I can see him becoming a monster.

The fact that all of us think Williams will be awesome makes me think he's going to suck.

Will he play DE or is he coming in to be a hybrid guy?
We have quite a few DE for the next few years, with Mathis, Johnson, Bowman, Potoae, Scrempos, and Sterk at the position. Then again, a few of them might slide inside to DT like Dissly is doing.

It's been decades but this what real recruiting depth on the line looks like. It's just what good coaches do.

Pre-emptive RIP Foster Sarrell.
Kill me.
Not a surprise at all:
