USC still has expectations. Sark was a fool to go there.
Disagree.
Leaving after 2013 allowed him to control the narrative of rebuilding UW. Had he stayed another year or two that could have changed completely in the eyes of the media. Then he would havent been able to get another good HC job.
Plus a raise to $5M/year...thats $15M-$20M even if he gets fired after year 3 or 4. If he can squeeze out a division title this season or next he probably gets year 4. Thats +$30M he will have made in his coaching career.
He is a fraud but he's played his career cards very well.
From a career earnings perspective you are right. From a career achievement perspective, not the case.
It worked out really well for UW too. We didn't have to pay him $2.85 million in 2014 or fire him after the 2014 season and pay his 2015 salary as well.
Sarkisian's leaving easily saved UW over $5 million and the timing was right for Chris Petersen.
Of course SevenFS promptly bought a massive tequila pad while his marriage was falling apart and then was forced to sell it about a year later due to the settlement....those brokerage fees and closing costs had to have hurt more than any price gain he may have benefited from in such a short time.
