George Karl wants Cousins gone, but their owner Ranadive came out and said that's not going to happen. What a dipshit organization that is. Karl has a history of butting heads with his star players and Cousins already has attitude issues. Gee I wonder what could go wrong there?

Ranadive has already put a player above the coach, which in this case is accurate but that isn't something you make public. He's awful but he wouldn't even be an owner if Stern didn't want to fuck over Seattle again.

    So, essentially

I've seen mocks that have Okafor going to the Kings at #6 ... if that's the case then you can assume that the Kings will be able to finally pull the trigger on Boogie Wonderland.

Hard to blame Boogie for being a malcontent in an organization who has an owner who has openly opined on whether or not cherry picking would be an effective NBA strategy.

    espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13148737/sacramento-kings-owner-vivek-ranadive-considering-firing-coach-george-karl
Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has considered firing George Karl, who was hired as coach four months ago to help turn around the struggling franchise.
"If you fire Karl, now you can't control Cousins because he'll know he's running the place," the source said. "Now he'll feel like he's telling you what to do."
Lol, nice. Karl gets $11 million guaranteed for 4 months of coaching.

Wall to wall coverage of the Lakers big #2 pick tonight. The Clippers didn't get this much coverage in the playoffs.

This is the the big test for Buss. From Jack Kent Cooke through Dr. Buss the Lakers rebuilt on the fly and got superstars by hoodwinking other teams. I don't think it is as easy to do that these days but still......gotta make something happen

Ted Stepian isn't going to trade Lebron for that #2 pick.

Actually, I don't think it's that bad for the Lakers if they can get shit figured out here ...

If they can pull off Boogie for the #2 pick ... and even more so if they can pull off assets (including Julius Randle) to get the #6 pick back, that's the MASSIVE element that will spur their rebuilding.

What are the odds that Westbrook heads to LA when he's a free agent?

If they strike out on Boogie, what are the odds that they can lure Love? Particularly if there is a wink wink deal in the background for Westbrook in the future? If the Lakers get a big, I think Love heads to Portland. IF they don't, I think he heads to the Lakers.

Kobe's crazy contract comes off the books after this season and they can go after a huge piece at that point.

As long as Jimmy Buss does what he does best (be a rich guy that likes to party) and not interfere with the grownups, the Lakers will be just fine. I have 100x the confidence in Jeanie Buss to do the right thing given her background working for her father from the bottom up in his sporting empire while Jimmy was busy doing whatever it was that Jimmy was doing.

They must think they are getting a big somewhere. I think they keep Russell so the Boogie dream is dead

Upshaw's stock had dropped before the draft, but he was seen as a late first/early 2nd by most. Si.com had him as their 30th best prospect, Chad Ford had him at 33, draftexpress at 45, and nbadraft.net had him 56. I did see Seth Davis' anonymous scout said they wouldn't touch him because of his issues.

I didn't see it until yesterday but apparently he had some heart issues come up at the combine. While he went lengths to clear his records, i have a feeling both his medical and previous issues caused him to go undrafted.

Not sure it really matters if he wasn't going in the first round anyhow. Now he gets to choose a team and if he's really as good as his talent shows, he'll be fine in the nba.

I'll keep it... (GRAA) But yes heart condition and "issues" caused him to miss the combines which had an impact on his draft status causing major slippage. He will stick in LA if he can stay clean and had a real chance in the league. He's better than 3 or 4 of the players drafted in front of him minus the "issues"
If I am LA brass I'm buying him a sports physiologist and and body guard to . You are getting a lottery pick for free if you can keep him clean and motivated.

Upshaw as an UDFA is a no brainer. Not much of a risk, and if he gets his act together and his medical condition is manageable, he'll be a steal. But with his issues, no way was he going in the 1st round.

Better prognosticators than you or I had him going in the first until the heart issues popped up.
  • HuskyInAZHuskyInAZ Member Posts: 1,732
You didn't know? I'm omnipotent. I long questioned his heart.

Seriously, you are right. LA got a high value UDFA. I'm rooting for the guy who made the first half of the past season of Husky basketball interesting. The fact that he won't have a major pocket full of money can only help his chances of success.
