Southern Cal's football facilities are now TOO good; proper maintenance of the field turf and locker room is preventing his players from developing the toughness and character needed to succeed.
Jack B • 3 hours ago Good for Sark. His teams need to be both mentally and physically tougher. I'm all for great facilities and greater demands upon the individual for a commitment to excellence and unselfishness.
And the truth is, players who love the game play better. Anything done by Sark to encourage a Trojan's love for the game is time and effort well-spent.
"All of this falls right on to the coach, not the players, because you can develop toughness regardless of the facilities .If Steve Sarkisian comes across as being soft, and zero leadership skills, so will his team. Texas, Alabama among others, have some of the best and luxurious facilities in the nation, but you don't hear about theses issues at those schools, and you probably never will, because those teams are a reflection of their Tough, hard nose coaches. Sarkisian needs to stop talking about it, and start being about it."
between the two. If they’re showing up every day, somebody’s making a shake for them, you go over here and somebody’s handing them this, what are they doing for themselves to develop themselves to get ready? Because the real world is tough. We have to make sure our guys are prepared for that. We’ve changed some things, shifted some things.”
Only a cell phone salesman turned into football coach by rising the jock of an actual good coach would know how TUFF! the real world is!
