Thompson is a great shooter. But is overrated in everything else. I watched him a lot in college and all he did was stand at the three point line and never played defense. He's an average defender now. But he has a ton of nights where he is 6/14 with 16 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and zero steals.

You obviously don't watch NBA if you think he's an average defender. He is known around the league to be one of the better perimeter defenders.
I'm not a Klay fan, but the kid can shoot and play defense.
Klay has improved from high school all over the board. This is cherry picking to rip romar. There are so many legit reasons to rip romar, but this isn't one of them. I don't think most people were knocking down his door because he ended up at WAZZU of all places. It's not like romar passed and he ended up at a top 25 type school. Nobody really wanted the kid.
I don't think any major powers wanted him. Most were WCC type schools. *
Scout has WSU, Michigan, Nevada, Notre Dame and pepperdine as his big offers.
He wasn't that good out of the high school. And that was a very deep SoCal HS year (Holiday, Derozan, Malcolm Lee, Brandon Jennings, etc). From what I recall he was purely a shooter, and he was so for awhile at WSU. I've been really surprised at how good a player he's turned into since he left WSU.
UW also had a pretty nice roster back then, especially at wing. I remember UW was really chasing Jrue Holiday and Drew Gordon in that same high school class.
It's not rare for these players to have overbearing fathers and/or handlers. I know a certain 5'9" guard from Tacoma who had a dad who was the same way. Peyton Siva's dad was a nut. The stuff about NWG and his parents didn't come out until he left.
I read an article about Jabari Parker and it said Coach K talked to his parents weekly and that they called coaches after bad games.

HR, YK.
If you corch, officiate or are otherwise involved in sports at any level up to and including college, be prepared to deal with crazy parents.
When my kid played at Rainier Beach I would sit at the top of the bleachers because I couldn't help yelling at refs and sometimes the coach. So I sat where they couldn't hear me. I had a fan club of students though
Don't forget the violations for smoking pot. I like to see a northwest kid succeed, and I'm glad he's doing well. But he was a major head case in college.

Moreso that nobody wanted the Dad.
