Show was interesting until the actor got rich and bought the mansion -> I think somewhere in the first season. It was funny while they were poor...but became bitchy when they got rich.

This. And the final season put it under. Nice guy Vince gets serious about a porn star and is heavily into cocaine. I believe that's called jumping the shark.
As for the movie, the critics pretty much all hate it while, shockingly, the public mostly loved it. Enough for me - I'll go.
