— There wasn’t quite as much 11-on-11 action today, though the final period of practice remained the same with each of the three quarterbacks given a chance to put together a scoring drive. None of them were successful. Jeff Lindquist handed to Dwayne Washington for a one-yard gain, then carried a keeper for three yards and threw an incompletion on third down. He ran on fourth down, too, but came up short of the sticks, and that was that.
Jake Browning was up next with the first-team offense against the first-team defense, and actually put together a decent drive, highlighted by a 14-yard completion to Jaydon Mickens and a 25-yard throw to Marvin Hall that moved the ball to the 33-yard line. Two plays later, though, Browning’s pass to Hall was intercepted by safety Budda Baker in the end zone.
K.J. Carta-Samuels put together a few nice plays, as well, including a 6-yard run to convert a third-down, and an 11-yard completion to walk-on WR Drew Before on 3rd-and-5. But after RB Ralph Kinne gained a first-down on an 8-yard rush to the plus-33-yard line, Carta-Samuels threw incomplete, then completed a 5-yard pass to walk-on WR Neel Salukhe before taking a sack from LB Matt Preston on third down.
— The first-team defense usually featured Taniela Tupou, Elijah Qualls and Will Dissly along the defensive line, with JoJo Mathis at buck linebacker, Scott Lawyer, Cory Littleton and Azeem Victor rounding out the linebacker corps, Sidney Jones and Darren Gardenhire at corner, and Baker and Brian Clay at safety. The first-team offensive line remains the same: Jake Eldrenkamp, Dane Crane, Siosifa Tufunga, Shane Brostek and Matt James.
