Prior to Sarkisian's era of historically weak schedules, having top 10 SOS was the norm. I would wager that in the 26 years of Lambo to Willingham we had fewer than 5 schedules that were outside the top 10.
And as alluded to above, it is tough to have a top schedule when you have a good team (because each win hurts your SOS). The 2000 team had the number 3 SOS which is amazing; the top 2 that year were 3-8 Colorado and 5-6 Stanford.
