Mariotta was giving them 99 percentile play at the most important position on the field. Even if the new guy is good that is a material decrease in performance. Now that doesn't mean shit when they play…say UW…but it will factor into some of their games.
Since most of the PAC 12 is a dreck, oregon should be fine
Oregon's offense is going to skull fuck everyone, hard. The question is can the defense at least slow down good offenses?
If Adams is the QB then the offense will utilize the metric fuck ton of receivers to air it out and Freeman and Tyner will be successful because of that. If it's Mahalak then the running game will be leaned upon much more allowing him to throw into single coverage to all of the receivers.
The D-Line will be worse, the secondary will be worse, and the LB group can really only get better. If they can maintain a 21ppg average then the Ducks have a chance to do something special. If it's closer to 27ppg they lose two during the regular season.
