As always, you are only good to people that pay you until you aren't.

I'm with Peterson. The NFL and Vikings are overreacting to cover their asses and appear p.c. It's a misdemeanor and 40 years ago it wouldn't have been a story. There are plenty of kids who are seriously injured from actual abuse (i.e. getting hit with an iron, being pushed down stairs). The media doesn't deem those situations fit for their sensational, celeb, ratings driven reporting.

That's the thing. A lot of things were acceptable 40 years ago that aren't today. The media hopping on this story is because Peterson is a headline. If Mr. Jackass three blocks down throws his 4 year old down the stairs, he'll be charged and likely convicted, but since he's a nobody, probably a no story. That still shouldn't take away from the seriousness of child abuse. What Peterson did was border line, but in today's celeb driven media, he needs to be smarter than that.

Also, Peterson's agent fails to realize the diminishing importance of everydown backs. I don't care who you are, unless you can also catch passes down field (McCoy, Bell, etc.) The running back position is completed expendable. You're not riding a top running back to the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl in today's NFL. The league is all about Quarterbacks, Receivers, and Pass Rushers. If you aren't solid in two of these categories, GTFO. Minnesota is realizing this, sorry Peterson, but your services are no longer needed.
