Not exactly great news for the Hawks. I thought Norton might be the new DC after Quinn left. They've now lost their two best defensive coaches, non Pete division.
Somewhat surprised that Norton wasn't the one promoted to DC ... but not surprising that he left given the fact that he was passed over for the DC job and if he has aspirations to be a DC and ultimately a HC ... it's something that he needed to do.
I always wondered why Norton had never gotten a promotion under Carroll. I think he's kind of a meat head, rah rah guy. Being a DC is more X's and O's.
It's a fine move for Norton. If it doesn't work out somebody will hire him to be a LB coach again.

I think Quinn's pretty good, and Carroll wants to replace him with someone of equal ability.
