I am surprised you're surprised the coach who kicked three field goals within the 2 yard line is a sackless cunt.

    They should examine McCarthys snatch.

Mccarthy knows the player admitted he last second decided to fuck up his assignment. He was supposed to block the front man. I truly believe the reason he dropped it is he was frozen in indecision on whether to carry out his assignment or catch the softball.

At the last second he decided it was floating too easily and couldn't help reacting which caused the miss timed face mask fumble. Had he just executed, Jordy nelson was waiting legs spread to take it like a champ.

He wasn't getting obliterated on the sidelines for muffing the ball, he was getting obliterated for trying to be a hero.

The coach deserves accountability for not having his players focused enough to ignore that natural instinct and do their jobs, but this was clearly a case where the player couldn't keep the hand out of the cookie jar in spite of what he was told. That's why the guy was on suicide watch in the locker room. He completely fucked up.

But go ahead and fire the coach.

A.J. Hawk is 100% to blame on the fake FG. He didn't do his job.

He is as guilty as Bostick on the onside kick.

Disagree. Hawk played it perfectly. If he waits back Ryan easily runs for the first down. By stepping up he forced a punter to have to make the throw to an offensive lineman. Hawks got lucky that the wrong footed pass floated safely into Gilliam's arms, but IMO Hawk absolutely made the right play.

I don't know if Ryan could have picked up 10 yards. It would have been close. There was a guy chasing Ryan down from behind.

The ST coach is a scapegoat and I agree, but they also gave up the fake FG for the TD. Those were two huge plays.

The other side could say GB hit all their FG's and forced and recovered a fumble on the kick off. The loss is all on McCarthy, but I think a lot of ST coaches would have been fired after two big blunders.
If the ST coach is fired ... the HC needs to go too.

Two big blunders, yes. But why not fire the DC for having his guy lay down after a pic. The OC had the ball twice inside the 1 and came away with nothing.

This is all on the HC ...

Sorry. "No one gets behind" is AJ's role on a FG block (the block was on).

He was rung up in film room regardless of the ST coach's dismissal.

Jon Ryan running the ball was not his job.

Starting 7.5 yards deep - Ryan had to break an 18 yard run to get a first down. He would have been caught.

TL:DR : AJ's job on a FG block was not Ryan running... it was staying on the eligible at the end of the line.

Lest we forget.... Willingham essentially fired his DC, his OC and his special teams coach, long before finally being shitcanned himself.
  • dncdnc Member Posts: 56,745

The field goal was all on Brad Jones #59.

Seahawk scouting had seen that he always shirked his responsibilities and went for the block. If he were lined up on Ryan's left, the instructions were to run the fake left. If he was lined up right, Ryan was to run right with Willson as the receiver. If Jones was not in, Ryan's instructions were to take a delay of game penalty.

If Pete saw that, the ST coach should have too.

Minor poont, it was Seattle ST coach Brian Schneider that caught Jones' tendency on tape.

Wasn't that just insane? Gets rid of Bill Deitrich so he can accept the UW job, fires Kent Baer to save his job after 2007, then shitcans Bob fucking Simmons after Simmons helps Ty play the race card against the UW.

Great fucking 3-ring circus, as always.

AJ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsFmNeruLL4Hawk looked burned on that play. Didn't even acknowledge Gilliam running right past him. Was solely focuses on Ryan running.
