I think the most interesting thing he says is about having a sense of urgency. That comes from the top down and from the outskirts it doesn't appear that UW has that.

Derek, stuff like this makes this site better than any other UW football site out. I was only 4 when UW won the national title, but you better believe my dad had me watch every game from the 91 season as I got older. I still watch those tapes whenever I go home. It's how I grew up on Husky Football, and really learned about how special this place used to be.

Beno was 100% spot on when he talked about the ESPN top 100 and how back in the day you had to pay your dues. I agree with him about great talent being at UW, but the toughness is missing. Part of that is Sark and the coaches being finesse guys, but the other part of it is that football has been pussified over the past 10-15 years. It just isn't what it used to be, and these stories prove that.

Agree with RoadDawg, good job Derek, and Beno nailed it, though I do think certain coaches still knock the diva out of the player. Just my 0.02, but on the surface it appears that even today teams led by guys like Nick Saban and Bob Stoops have a lot in common with the teams Beno was part of.
