What is he getting paid now? Coordinators leave all the time for head coaching gigs, but is it a cap hit to give one a substantial raise to stick around for 4-5 years?
Coaches salaries don't affect the cap, but really look at Pete Carroll's coaching tree all the way back to USC. Every coach that has been promoted elsewhere has failed pretty badly. Hooks will flip out but Carroll will just hire a new guy and continue to have the best defense.
