1960 Missouri went unbeaten, AND beat the team that beat UW in their bowl game. Split NC at bestHFNY said:PL_SS is sometimes off-base but after doing a search, the one pole that did their voting AFTER the bowl games got it right. Be honest with yourself, what if pole-sters gave the NC to Alabama since they finished the regular season #1 but then your WAR DUCKS!!1@! beat tOSU tonight? Wouldn't that ruffle your feathers?:
"The 1960 Washington Huskies team took an improbable road to the Rose Bowl and national championship. After suffering a 1 point setback to Navy in week three, the team reeled off eight straight league wins capped by a triumph over Associated Press #1 Minnesota in the Rose Bowl. Because the final Associated Press and United Press International polls were conducted after the final game of the regular season, Minnesota is the AP and UPI national champion for 1960. The postseason poll conducted by the Helms Athletic Foundation recognizes Washington as national champions."AZDuck said:
LOL @ PL_SS touting the Todd Turner Mythical National Championship of 1960. Never gets old. Not as good as PL_SS touting UW's academis, but closepuppylove_sugarsteel said:I guess history and tradition go back only 21 years. UW- 14 rose bowls, 2 national championship VICTORIES and an ORANGE BOWL VICTORY, and um, UW doesnt count its many holiday bowls and alamo type bowls dipshit. Oh, and UW has 4 rose bowls (3 victories and a natty VICTORY) in last 24 years.

Win 2/2 of a natty, then pop off ducks!!! -
I give the UW 1991 in its entirety. Always have. But the 1960 thing is utter horseshit and any non-Doog should be able to see that

You go by the rules that were in place at the time. Even if the rules were FS." -

Kansas later forfeited ... but ... not undefeated on the field. -
Frankly I don't really care, just pointing out that PL_SS has a point (or half of a point).
But still, PUMP MY GAS DUCK!!!!@#1!@!#@!#!!!!!1!!! -
I am going by the rules in place at the time. Miami gets a whole NC as well. Each team beat every team they played. The system in place at the time didn't allow them to play each other...
Shouldn't diminish one by the accomplishment of the other. Yes, the system was FS. -
I wasn't arguing with you, poasted that as a way of showing I agree.AZDuck said:I am going by the rules in place at the time. Miami gets a whole NC as well. Each team beat every team they played. The system in place at the time didn't allow them to play each other...

Full NC for 91. No others.

I just read about the 1960 Missouri controversy for the first time. Fucking Bud Adams. Everything he touches is fucked up.
At TCU's urging, the NCAA investigated the matter and it was revealed Coan had taken a plane trip to an all-star game in the summer of 1959, paid for by KU donor and AFL co-founder Bud Adams. On October 26, 1960, KU was placed on 1 year NCAA probation because the NCAA declared that KU alumni indulged in illegal recruiting practices consisting of "excessive entertainment" in the recruitment of Coan. Adams denied he took Coan to the game as a recruit. Initially, Coan also denied any impropriety in his transfer to KU, but later in a 2007 interview he admitted he had indeed been illegally recruited by Adams.[41] No KU officials were ever found to be directly involved in the ordeal.[40][41] While Coan was not ruled ineligible by the NCAA, the NCAA finding triggered questions of Coan's eligibility in light of conference rules.
At some point I am going to go piss on that man's grave. -
Obviously Washington is still big brother to some with all their quooking.
