Everything starts and ends with QB play when looking at the 2014 season. Period.

Those that are bitching about sending guys home for the Holidays really need to take a walk and gain some perspective. Boise did the same thing in a bigger game and had success.

If there's one big reason for concern after the game it was what you mentioned about the culture being changed and players buying in. There were a handful of players that looked like they didn't want to be there ... John Ross being the most notable example to me. It's concerning ... but at the same time we're also taking a full class and I fully expect there to be guys that are going to be moving on.

I think you're a little misguided with the QB position for that game. Williams apparently has already shown his intentions it would appear. The Swede isn't really in the competition at this point and I would expect a position change in the future. The QB probably getting the 2nd most snaps during the bowl season was Magna Carta (wouldn't shock me if Williams was asked to be the scout team QB). Not really sure that there was a backup option in that game.

In the grand scheme of things, the work that needs to be done in this program won't be better or worse off because we won or lost the game. This game would be telling in a number of ways. Some of them positive. Some of them negative.

I guess the biggest issue for me was it appeared from every angle of the game the huskies looked wrong. Attitude sucked, game plan sucked, tackling sucked, play calling on offense sucked, save one play special teams completely sucked.

I agree on that part. Tells me that we'll see more attrition than we were expecting.

At the game. When Ross got benched on defense he literally sat at the end of the bench and didn't move for about 10 minutes.

Also, on offense, being at the game you could see that OSU had a safety deeper than 10 yards down the field about 3 or 4 times. It was embarrassing quite frankly that they could get away with it.

The second part was obvious from TV ... only can do so much with play calling when you have an offense that requires the threat of a passing game but have no passing game to speak of.

    Regarding Ross ... not surprised.

Pete should scrap the the spread offense completely. Every team prepares for it week in and week out.

I don't believe he ran the spread with Moore. Go back to what you know.

My big offseason prediction is that John Ross transfers.

Why? He's only playing one more year of college!

The defense with three all American's some good young talent lots of game experience at LB gives up 30 pts against a true freshman. OSU also lost their top offensive player because he decided to beat his girlfriend.

    Tired of watching bad football...

No messaging to Browning, if anything Pete was telling miley he is still his guy.

Cornel you have lost your mind. Miley took his last snap barring injury. Even then would be a question. And cut the playcalling shit. Smith's hands are tied too. Hard to run read option (the only thing Miley can do) when there is no passing option. There's still 8-9 guys dedicated to the LOS. why have a high safety when there's zero threat to throw. Just man up vs our average WR's and pin the proverbial ears back. Spread them out? Big deal, still no threat to pass.

I thought j smith called good games the last three games puppy...he was awful on Friday.

I hate to say it but cyler is still the front runner for next season.

I think bowl games can really expose who wanted to be there more, and who was more motivated to compete. It exposes that more than "out-scheming" or "out-coaching". Every bowl season a handful of teams get exposed sleep walking through their bowl game. They get jumped on early and rolled over. Oklahoma this year, ASU in the holiday bowl last year, etc.

Awkward situation to prep for, for some players a bowl game is a last chance to audition for NFL, for others it's an extended all-expense paid vacation and the last game of their playing career as they have no pro prospects. It can lead to some weird game dynamics and lack of focus.

Smith didnt "all of a sudden" call bad game cornel. Miles just actually made a play or 2 downfield in those 3 games..then came back in the apple cup and bowl game and shit the bed.

    J. Smith cant go on the field and actually point out what receiver for Miles to throw to when a play gets called. Only in practice. Do you get that cornel? Sheesh its like a broken record with you, and seemingly 80% of the rest of you who blame the playcaller.

If Cyler starts next season, and in particular it becomes abundantly clear that he's failed to progress much as a QB, I'll be very vocal about questioning what Petersen is doing.

You can't have Cyler start next season ... period.

The entire culture of this team needs to turn over ... and Cyler's a key factor in that.

There is no evidence that Smith is a good coordinator or play caller. It's fine and even accurate to say he was handcuffed, but he was coordinator of an offense that sucked. You don't get courtesy points for not having ideal talent.

This bowl game means jack squat Jimmy. Reminded me of the '98 Aloha Bowl...Jarzynka sunning himself on the white sands of Waikiki with that beautiful mullet

Onward and upward from here my friends

Cycler is the incumbent and someone will need to prove they are a better option than a guy who has started 14 games. I do not want to see cyler play another snap but he is the #1 guy going into spring ball. Samuels and Browning will be freshman proving that they will better options. It doesn't seem like they would have to do much prove they are better. Peterson will need to bite the bullet and go with a guy with no D1 game experience.

The mark of a good coach is that they adjust to what they have and make it work. What concerns me with smith is that he still tried to force his system onto a qb who couldn't do it. Then, b/c cyler couldn't do it they basically made it as vanilla as possible.

I just can't see how anyone who knows anything about football goes into a practice and watches cyler throw the ball and thinks that he can move an offense. If you aren't even a threat to throw 10+ yard passes either by skill or by recognition of defenses it puts your team in the back seat before the game is kicked off.

It was Oklahoma State's worst season since 2007.
