Conferences that have less than 12 teams can't have championship games. It has nothing to do with being scared.

Totally agree, and college football conference championship games have been historically uncompetitive. Often, the top two or three teams end up in the same division, so the conference title game ends up being a blow out. Those games have been more about adding a de facto bowl game than about determining the "true" conference champion. During the short period they played a true round robin schedule, the PAC10 had the right formula for determining conference champion. That's about as fair and accurate as you can get, it just risks missing out on a team that gets really hot late in the season.dnc said:
