A Q for the bored re: Muslims

why is it that the Arabic/Persian Muslims are so fucking nuts? Why do Muslims of other races and cultures seem ok. Muhamaned Ali, Yusef Islam...on the peace train. Indonesian Muslims seem less crazy. Is this more an issue of race and culture vs religion? Religion is also a culture, but there seems to be differences by race and region.

On 21 February 1989, Yusuf Islam addressed students at Kingston University in London about his conversion to Islam and was asked about the controversy in the Muslim world and the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie's execution. He replied, "He must be killed. The Qur'an makes it clear – if someone defames the prophet, then he must die."[4]

Newspapers quickly denounced what was seen as Yusuf Islam's support for the killing of Rushdie and the next day Yusuf released a statement saying that he was not personally encouraging anybody to be a vigilante,[2] and that he was only stating that blasphemy is a capital offence according to the Qur'an.

I have a friend who is an Arabic Muslim and he might be the most peaceful and kind human being on the planet.

Please don't apply a couple of bad apples to an entire group of people. Thanks.

Indonesian and Filipino Muslims aren't really that much more moderate, Pakistanis may be the most radical, and Tunisians are relatively liberal. Generalizations don't always apply.
