Utah State is a bigger outpost than Oregon State is.

The identity of what he runs is completely different than what most of the conference runs.

I've long thought that if you're one of the outlying schools in a conference, you have to zig when everybody else zags to keep up. Andersen will be able to do that with what he's trying to do.

You do realize that he ran two completely different philosophies at his two head coaching gigs? Care to inform us what he will be Running at the chainsaw?
Somewhere on the Twatters, there was a mention that Andersen wanted to run spread at Wisconsin but Barry wouldn't let him.

Coaches must really hate Barry Alvarez

THIS!!!!! Bretty B. leaves after three Rose Bowl losses to be a punching bag in the SEC and this guy bails for Corn Valley?

He must be impossible to work for.

The Valley Football Center expansion and renovation plan calls for the addition of 55,000 square feet to benefit student-athletes, the football program and all OSU athletics programs, which serve more than 500 student-athletes participating in 17 sports.

Mike Goodwin, president and CEO of the Oregon State University Foundation, said that anonymous gifts totaling $25 million have been secured for the project. The foundation will lead the effort to raise the $17 million balance to fund the expansion. The project is one of several fund-raising initiatives the foundation will launch in the coming months to continue the momentum of the highly successful $1.1 billion Campaign for OSU.

The football team’s locker room, equipment room and sports training facility all will be expanded as part of the project. Construction is slated to begin after the 2015 football season and to be completed by the start of the 2016 home season, tentatively scheduled for Sept. 24 vs. Boise State University.

The Valley Football Center was originally built in 1990 and expanded in 1996 to serve 90 student-athletes. The Beavers football program has outgrown the current facility as the program now supports 115 student-athletes and three uniform/helmet styles.

Is it in Boise's mission statement to be the guinea pig for grand openings?

From an Oregon State perspective, his teams have historically been well coached, emphasized running the football, and played strong, physically tough defenses.

Riley's teams became increasingly soft and lost a lot of what had made them successful for many years. Not saying that that's a bad hire for Nebraska, because I think Riley will be able to land some better players there and the job will reinvigorate him, but it was time for a change for both Riley and Oregon State. Andersen is the right type of coach for Oregon State at the right time.

Here's my conspiracy theory: that Alvarez put pressure on Anderson to lay down to Ohio State for some sort of kick back from the conference. It's just a weird fucking move.

Big10 takes a mediocre coach from pac12 and gives a better one back in return
