But back to the topic at hand: the crime Garner allegedly committed does not carry the death penalty as punishment. Selling loosies is a $500 fine. He wasn't Scarface or Nino Brown. Choking him was totally unnecessary. Grabbing him was totally unnecessary. But some idiot cop decides to escalate the situation by using force to bring him down, and a man is dead as a result. Totally unacceptable. His race is irrelevant to the horrendous actions of the police officers, except for the small detail that police brutality against people of color is a well documented issue in this country.
