Anyone else loony enough to...

think Cyler has a breakout year for 2015
barring any catastrophic injuries or fist fights?

I was on the TW should start bandwagon since Stanford but have seen some progress and assertiveness not visible early in the year with Miles. Specifically in decision making and running with the football.

Not a world beater but a poor man's Tui.

I see the struggles of this year as a motivating factor during the off season of pressing.

Tell me I am crazy or FS. I can take it.

I don't think Miles is the guy for the reason topdawgnc gives. Unfortunately the other two guys we've seen this year aren't the guy so far for similar reasons (well, plus the Swede's scatter arm). I really don't know where things are going at QB. Miles isn't "the" guy, but he's the only guy so far.

Throwing the ball on time and on target......
    - Great QB - 80-90% of the time
    - Good QB - 70-80% of the time
    - Average QB - 60%-70% of the time

IMO, Cyler is an average QB, save for his ability to run. However, his inability to run the offense quickly and his crappy ball security issues offset anything he does with his legs. He is what he is and has been since HS. Look at his senior year HS stats. Far from impressive. He is a prime example of an overrated HS QB by the scouting services based on his performance as a sophomore. Right now, he may be the best we have, so we have to run with it.

As for a poster or two who watched a bit of Browning's junior year Hudl film, I'd encourage you to watch the whole thing. It was one of the most impressive QB videos I've seen. His ball was thrown on time and accurately over and over and over. And oh by the way, he has 64 TDs to only 4 interceptions with 3,946 yards this year through 11 games, playing for the #5 ranked HS team in the country. Miles senior year.....he threw 14 TDs vs. 8 interceptions with 1,354 yards in 9 games. Apples and oranges

If you blitz him it's a sure positive play for your defense.

Browning looks good and his stats are impressive, but there have been tons of high school QB's who put up huge numbers to struggle or never play in college. I think he will be good, but comparing high school stats is pretty futile.

Miles won the Army All American MVP after his senior year. He won two state championships and threw 20 TD's and 2 INT's his junior year. He was basically as highly regarded as Browning with a lot of impressive offers. Williams and Lindquist were highly regarded as well.

To the OP, I don't think Miles will ever be great, but I can see a way he becomes a good QB with a full off season an Spring Ball. I don't think he is as bad as some here think he is.

    He isn't cerebral enough.

So I guess the consensus here is Cyler is incapable of improving "game-speed" awareness after 10+ starts and a full suite of spring camps/practices? Did I get that right, RD, JE and Race?

Either way it will be interesting to bump this bitch a year from now.

Miles is showing some signs of improvement ... The question is where is his ceiling.

He's still very raw at the QB position and a lot of his problems are fundamental skills for a high level QB.

A position change could serve him well

    Bullshit.

The game moves too fast for him.

From the snap, to the hand offs, to his release it is all rushed and sloppy.

I don't know how you can slow the game down for him.

Where would he play? He's been playing QB since at least high school. You know he's not changing positions. The smart money is on him at least opening next season as the starter, especially if he plays well these last few games.

If he is still unsure and doesn't have confidence against Boise State to open next season, it's all over. I think it's possible that some of that has to do with Miles being uncomfortable and with limited knowledge of the playbook and system. An off season and Spring ball could improve those issues.

This is fucked up. Brett Hundley is #1 in the nation at .721

Cyler Miles is #13 in the country at .659 ; 2 spots behind Marcus Marriota(.671) and 3 behind Connor Heisman(.673). Interesting npte, Miley is one spot ahead of the Bellermine kid Sark spurned, now at Colorado, Liufau(.658)

To count out a Sophomore getting this many Pac-12 snaps performing as well as he has in a new system with NO spring, who doesn't turn the ball over... who has had limited WR play, an unsettled running game is pretty KimFS if you ask me. There is something there with Miles Coaches can build on. Having a super Freshman along with Lindquist, Williams and Hyphen competing in hot pursuit through the winter, spring, summer then fall should help Peterman settle down the QB position by next season.

If Miles is the guy next year this team is well and truly fucked. Plain and simple. Of course they may be WATF anyway but Miles @QB will cement the deal

So, what you're saying is, you are unable to comprehend how this team can be successful with Miley at QB next year, right?

I don't agree with this notion anymore. Three weeks ago - certainly.

I am wagering on Pete and the new QB's lighting a fire under Cyler ' s ass from here on out.

I could be wrong. But I think he will turn the corner rather drastically.
