Félix won in ERA, WHIP, and BB/9 Kluber won in FIP, WAR, K/9 and also pitched in a more hitter friendly park with a shitty defense behind him. Hard to go wrong either way
What did Felix expect playing for the Mariners? That's what I thought, until I see he lost to a Cleveland Indian. I guess they picked the player that plays for the taller midget.
Felix wanted this award. His comments about it are borderline sour grapes, but i'm going to chalk it up to him being a big time competitor who wants to go down as one of the greats. It's got to be frustrating having a historical season and then not even being the awarded the best pitcher in your half of the league.
Voters pay attention to September. Kluber finished the season with 14, 14, and 11 K games. Felix got lit up in Toronto when his team's season was in the balance.

I'm not bashing the decision to pick kluber, but come on, both pitchers had a bad start in September, kluber's just came earlier in September. Besides, it's about the total body of work
it's that WAR number I'm guessing that got him.... the "pitchers park" factors into the equation as well as being on top of writers heads (even though he gave up more HR's at safeco than on the road 10-6), as does our "superior defense"....
I remember one writer who voted talking about how much of a difference Zunino was for felix over Gomes for Kluber.....
