Petersen’s first full recruiting class at Boise State in 2007 produced 10 players who appeared on NFL rosters. Those recruits provided the baseline for the O.K.G. formula. That a class rated No. 68 in the nation by Rivals.com and No. 57 by Scout.com produced that many NFL prospects begs the question: What will Petersen do with recruits who rank among the best in the nation?
Calling out Shelton is a great example ... kid with a ton of talent that didn't always seem to get the most out of himself under Sark ... drifted a bit at times.
When you watch him this year, he's appearing to be much more focused on what he's doing both on and off the field. The results speak for themselves.
Really I look at an OKG as someone that understands that making yourself into a better player/person is something that you have to work at every single day ... you just can't all of a sudden say that you want to be better and it just magically happens.

“That’s part of the O.K.G. thing,” Petersen said. “He wants to get better. He’s maturing and learning a lot of things. He’s been here a long time, but that’s an O.K.G. to me.”

Little dig at Sark?
Happens often - don't think that Petersen has a lot of love for Sark.

Running the Montlake School for Wayward Boys can't be much fun at times.
During the preseason coaches tour when Petersen and Sark would be on stage at the same time, you got the feeling from looking at Pete that Sark made his skin crawl.
The OKG philosophy is what will allow Petersen to get the most out of the 2* and 3* guys that fill out classes. Sure, the first few classes may not have as many 4* guys at the top but the classes will be well balanced because the bottom half guys will be guys that Petersen knows are talented enough and have the character to be successful. Under Sark and past regimes those are the guys that drop off, transfer, or flat out suck.
Examples from the first class already include Will Dissly, Sidney Jones and Dante Pettis. Dissly and Pettis did not get any p12 offers while Jones only got a few. These guys come from a class that Petersen had less than two months to work on. With a full class he will find a handful of lower tier guys that can be good players.
