We looked like we had 3 plays: RB up the gut for 2 yards, drop back for deep throw out of bounds/scramble for loss, and fake punt.

Miles has a crappy arm, receivers can't get separation... and well quite frankly, can you name one NFL player on our roster right now (other than maybe John Ross)?
I like to think we need NFL players to have a decent offense. I like to do that.
I like to say having talented NFL caliber players on a team isn't important. I like to do that.
I like to be a passive aggressive elitist poster. I do that.

So glad Sark passed on Sefo...

To be completely fair, Man Tits recruited Troy Williams over Sefo as they were in the same class.

But your poast is well noted by the fact that Sefo and his 7 TD passes yesterday would have been better than any of the QBs Sark put on this roster in his 5 years here.

It's worth repeating. Miles didn't take a snap in the spring. I'm ok with the decision, but that would have helped.

Also, I'm not looking it up, but Stanford's defense is really good in a league known for 63-56 games. It's also a league that is at least as good as the XII, and top to bottom is as good as the SEC. Still, six points won't cut it, and this team doesn't have the talent to rely on d and special teams. Blaming Sark for the qb situation, while probably valid, doesn't help. He's gone. I think Mike Damone is right. We are going to have to endure another bleah eight or nine win season. I don't really see this team going six and two from here, but it's not completely crazy either. They are probably going to have to stick with Miles for the yr., but I don't see why the competition won't be open again next spring. I really really really can't see him being your three year starter though. He Would have to work with Dan Marino a lot in the offseasons.

Before you guys doog too tuff for Sefo, remember that he was playing against Cal's defense.

    Well noted.

    Sefo > Miles > Lindquist > Williams

    very well could equal

    Neuheisel > Sark > Gilby > Ty

Why was the offense still so vanilla in the first meaningful game of the season?

We looked like we had 3 plays: RB up the gut for 2 yards, drop back for deep throw out of bounds/scramble for loss, and fake punt.

Stanford was blitzing Miles all fucking game and we never burned them for it once.

Maybe our OC is still learning....

    2002 - 2003 Oregon State (GA)
    2004 - 2009 Idaho (QB)
    2010 - 2011 Montana (OC/QB)
    2012 - 2013 Boise State (QB)
    2014 - present Washington (OC/QB)

Very simple...Johnathan Smith is running Erickson's 1998 1-back offense out of the gun, without WR's or a TE. The only difference? Erickson used the fucking SCREEN to negate up-the-field pressure.

Smith didnt call 1 f-ing screen yesterday to help Miles, and consequently the team. The worst playcalling ive ever seen @ Washington. I hate blaming the OC after losses. But ive been blaming him after wins too. He's fucking horribly predictable and nothing even close to clever. Its really, really bad and I expect changes will be made.

    Yup.

I've been saying this for two weeks now. You can almost tell the play that's coming based on the formation the doogs line up in.

Fucking run Miley at them until the offense either doesn't look decrepit, or Miley breaks his leg in two.

They've run some screens, the problem is our execution. Too many missed blocks, shitty throws, and indecision by the guy catching the ball.

I was being facetious on the "run Miley every play". hth

they do need to add in way more designed QB keepers. Run up the field Miley, not fucking sideways

the receivers are not the problem dude, and many of them were running wide open while Miles ran laterally and threw the ball away
Somehow I missed all those wide open receivers you were talking about while watching the game...
If your QB needs the WRs to have 10 yards of separation to consider them "open", your QB sucks.
Of course the QB sucks, everything on offense sucks right now, HTH.
Mostly the playcalling, followed by the QB play
Give me a break. The coaches made some bad calls, but it doesn't matter what play you call when your OL can't block and your QB can't throw. Unfortunately, the answer appears to be a shit filled abundance stew. There is plenty of blame to go around.
Dude, Fremont is right. It looked like we had a maximum 5 plays in our offense.

It was some of the most predictable shit I've ever seen
Dude, I agree with you. The playcalling has been shit, but that's not the only problem. If you execute well enough, you can run a pretty basic offense and have success. Like I said earlier, the entire offense sucks ass: playcalling, OL, QB play, receiver separation, RB decisiveness. ALL OF IT. Complete fucking dreckfest from top to bottom. Shitbundance.

Calling screens is a good point. I'm watching Teddy Bridgewater make his first start for Minnesota today. Atlanta was bringing pressure every play. They call a tunnel screen that goes for 50 yards to beat the pressure. I didn't see too many screens or pick routes to help with pressure. The whole passing game needs work.

Auburn (and Oregon under Chip) runs like three plays with funky options, and still owns people in the SEC, so you're right it isn't about a huge playsheet. It's possible that Peterman's offense is too complex for the not so cerebral Miley Cyrus, and they need to simplify it even further. I don't know man, I think Miles is just fucking broken.
