Jedd Fisch -- Deny Today, Depart Tomorrow?

But because Sark didn't turn things around therefore the belief in what the process looks like to be on the right trajectory has seen the goalposts move

When the village idiots can't work with data and deal with emotions … laying out the data and facts becomes more of a comprehensive exercise
Or said differently, using 2,000 words is the equivalent of telling the idiots to fuck off

People who talk a lot don’t usually say much.

The starting point for DeBoer was also substantially further along than what both Sark and Fisch started with
I have no problem saying that DeBoer is a better coach than both Sark and Fisch
I don't know if I'd say that DeBoer is the best as a long-term steward of a program of the 3 at this point … both Sark and Fisch have shown an aptitude to build up a program whereas DeBoer really hasn't been tasked with that as of yet

Had DeBoer stayed with the guys who portalled out and Rosengarten I think they easily win all the games Judd won in 2024 and easily take care of the Coug and Rutgers. Even with Wild Willy Rogers, I think that's a really good offense and the defense is probably about the same as it was. I think they have shots to win at Iowa and Indiana and are much more competitive against Oregon and Penn State.
But I agree it's the season after that when things would have gotten questionable with DeBoer. Especially since a lot of the guys they have been high on supposedly haven't shown much as you said.
Jedd's play calling seems really predictable but also without an identity. So many times this season when UW got into the red zone I'd mutter the entire stadium knows Jonah is getting the ball and then every team would blow it up. He also constantly I think is so predictable UW gets like 4-5 plays a game like Tecmo Bowl when the defense calls the same play and it's just comically blown up.

I agree that there are times that things seem predictable … it would be one of my bigger offseason asks from Jedd and his staff to do a thorough job of self scouting on play calling and seeing if there is any level of predictability and patterns. One that I've seen is that Jedd is seemingly to continue to call running plays when success is there (think Oregon game)
As for our red zone execution, I get the frustration but it's actually an area where UW was really good in 2025. UW is currently 8th in the nation in Red Zone scoring % scoring on 50 of 54 possessions with 41 of those scores being TDs (75.9%, 5th nationally). I'm guessing if we parse out Big10 only stats the numbers look a little worse … but those are still good numbers when you consider that everybody is largely playing dreck out of conference.
I think one area that will help with the overall offensive execution is for the OL to continue to take steps forward … EVERYTHING in the B10 starts with play at the LOS. We saw on numerous instances this year that the difference between 1st string and 2nd string OL play was still very noticeable. As the overall play increases and that gap narrows hopefully we'll see more offensive consistency.

"There are 3 things that can happen when you throw a pass, and 2 of them are bad".

It’s way better than that. We aren’t getting blown out against every good team like we did with Sark. 9-4 > 6-7. That’s real incremental progress, if not actually progress. This isn’t three consecutive years of 7-6.
Wisconsin was a bad loss. Demond lost us the game. We win without the turnovers. He played great the week before and he tried to do too much on a day where nothing was going right and we had no rhythm. You gotta win the ugly ones and we failed.
I have no problem being upset about that but nobody gave a fuck about Pete’s terrible losses in 2014 and 2015 when the season was rolling along in 2016.
See how this year goes. I think we will be good, possibly very good. DeBoer is gone. The UW administration sucks. We still have fielded big winners in the recent past and if Fisch is a good coach, we will again.
