Why DeBoer 'might have to win it all' to remain at Alabama

You’re right, Fishlips will get 4 years, just like Alabama tends to do, barring losing seasons in three consecutive years. The question is, will Chun pull the trigger after year four if 8-4 is the high water mark? I’d be willing to say yes. UW chose the deep water and can’t afford to tread in one place too long.

Yeah I'm a doog but when Cauce said that she doesn't want to compete at any level but the highest it's hard to see her replacement being happy with 8-4 and then 5-7 win seasons around that.

Yeah I don't think almost any program in the better half of the power two conferences will be okay with above average, especially one like UW which is in a big market who doesn't have that built in college town alumni stuff like a Wisconsin type. I wouldn't be surprised if they went the perpetually 7-5/8-4 route that Judd either gets fired or bails to some NFL job.

SEC teams have really come down to earth since the cheating they used to do was basically legalized. That's the real reason Nick quit.

I'm not totally sold on it yet. We had some some years like 2010, 2013 & 14 where the best SEC programs were just a shade off and probably not coincidentally Auburn and Ohio State snuck into things a couple of those years. Georgia easily could have won in 2023 if they don't lose to Bama and/or expanded playoff and Bama also could have easily won. Georgia easily could have been the second-best team last year and can argue their starting QB got knocked out even if he is a shitty Dreamworks Animation character.

Where is Mike Price on your list of esteemed Bama corches?

It’s rollin’, baby.

I believe DeBoer and Alabama are very fortunate that Grubb was fired in Seattle. I understand the head guy is the main cog in the machine but Sheridan was a bad fill in. I hope DeBoer fails but it’s unlikely, he too good a coach to shit the bed and now he’s actually recruiting well but that is still Saban and his legacy. Another reason why he left UW, recruiting was easier after the legend.

I left off Price because he never coached a game and Franchione because he left Alabama for Ass To Mouth after two years.
