In 1846, the United States of America went to war with the United Mexican States. Political maneuvering by President James K. Polk and a vested interest in the Republic of Texas ensured the US would throw everything they could into the conflict. Despite a small peace-time army dependent on volunteers, the self-righteous might of the Republic ground away at the Mexican forces.
In less than two years, the Mexican Navy lay in sunken graves, their Army reduced to its final holdout of Mexico City. It was there that the most underfunded, underappreciated branch of the US military at the time once more made a name for themselves. Along with nearly 7,000 soldiers, General Winfield Scott also marched on Mexico City with 400 members of the United States Marine Corps. They had marched to the shores of Tripoli; now they would march to the Halls of Montezuma.
A more effective use of money would be to deport our friends who are drug users to Guantanamo since they’re the root cause of the problem. That will clear up the problem real quick. You kill the existing cartel there will be assholes waiting in the wings. That’s why America lost the war on drugs in the 80s.
Seriously, one of my best friends is a coke head. He complains about illegal drugs coming over the border.(and based on your guys posts, I suspect many of you are in this boat) Guess he doesnt have a problem with it when he’s making shady cocaine purchases out on a Saturday night. I love the guy, but I want him deported to Gitmo until he cleans up.
Not particularly thrilled with training Mexican anti-cartel troops as there's a long history of this not working out.
Mexican leadership is inherently compromised. I think you need to just hit the shit out of the cartels directly and teach them not to mess with anything/anyone that has to do with the US.
That plus the border and money laundering would do 95% of the job.
I like the people that say they are all U.S. guns in cartel hands. That's because the Mexican Army buys our M4's etc. The youngsters join the army get trained and desert with the the guns. So tired of that Dazzler dumb level of lies. They make nothing in the military so they go get paid!

We should have kept Mexico as a territory when we had a chance.
Much better state than Canada
Enchiladas > poutine.
Imagine if Mexico had been developed like California and Texas. The US wouldn't have had to leave home for anything

We? have been training and cooperating with Mexico for years. Its how the CIA gets their cut
Los Zetas was/is a bunch of special forces dudes who decided they wanted their cut instead of giving it to corrupt politicians.
Was this an excerpt from an old Duckfighter Illustrated?
You've heard of Colonel Walter E Kurtz, commander 7th Special Forces?
