Genuinely curious, why isn't Lanning paid more? He's regularly rated as high as the third best coaches by reputable outlets like On3, 35-6, Big 10 champion, endless TBS accolades and he's behind guys like Drinkwitz and the wrong Stoops and only .5 mil ahead of Jedd, which is pretty funny. Is the Phil Nike stock true? Is he just so genuinely committed to the program he doesn't need more?

Lanning isn't paid at an elite level because he isn't an elite coach. There aren't very many of those anyways, and they would need to have direct ties to the West Coast to stay at any of the 4 schools.
But he's the highest paid recruiter in the country by a mile.
And Oregon knows that the price for cycling through head coaches can potentially be more expensive than what they're throwing money away for now. It's really hurt UW in recruiting that we've had a single class go through 4 head coaches.
I forgot add as a possibility that Oregon is playing hardball? I would think last year's success would have been enough for him and his agent (who I can't find anything about) to leverage into pushing him into the Top 10. I guess there were no high profile college job openings this year to turn down.
Kind of semi repeating what Haie said, but if he was getting offers from $EC cuntry, where he's from, maybe Fill would re-negotiate. There's no reason to when that doesn't seem to be happening. There's no doubt he's an above average coach who can lure recruits and semi-literate transfer guys. Ryan fucking Day beat the pants off him though.

I agree that Quooks and On3 and Pate love Lanning's package even though the guy is bursting with SDE.

I’d say that they are probably confident they can go get another one. he’s recruiting well but so did Crisco and even Taggart IIRC. they just won a Rosebowl and beat Pete with a guy who can’t get out of his own way at Miami, a place that’s spending money and is located in a county on which you could build an entire program.
they’re playing better defense under Lan but they could be better offensively. they really failed to scheme around Gabriel who should have been throwing out of the pocket and running more. a ton of deflected passes throwing out of the pocket. they were also a bit one dimensional in the passing game in terms of targets. That’s all on Lanning. They also weren’t always ready to play, which happened a bit last year too.
he’s clearly a good coach but I myself don’t think he’s in a position to be commanding T3 money.
