I know people that worked on it. Kinda hilarious that California's own bureaucracy tripped up the golden boy's pet project. They can't even do communism right.
Whenever an Atlanta politician's funds get low, the start going all in on light rail. At a neighborhood get together a few years back, I ran into a guy who was running for office on the pledge of building out MARTA one mile a year to the suburbs.
He turned and walked away when I asked if it would be cheaper to incent builders to create more office space around existing stations. No money in that- just results.
