It's not all about what is challenging to play. It's understandable if that riff doesn't sound good to your ears, but you seem to evaluate by some other criteria. You like hard rock when th hard riffs. I totally get it. I'd never try telling you you're wrong.
The Nirvana riffs- e.g., Comes As You Are, Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom - are so fucking easy, Old Yellar, can play them on his Strat. But the beauty is in the simplicity. It's doesn't have to be hard to be catchy and brilliant. I mean "I can't get no satisfaction" is one of the most important rock riffs of all time, and yet it's stupid, easy.
